Welcome to RAI Ed
Responsible AI Education
RAI Education is a collection of toolkits designed to raise awareness, foster pluralistic and inclusive dialogues, promoting co-creation of collaborative, equitable and sustainable actions.
Our open education resources aim to enhance critical thinking, encourage active participation in shaping AI's influence on society, and advocate for approaches to RAI Education that prioritise social and environmental justice.

About Us
RAI Education addresses complex issues in AI design, deployment and its societal impact
Our Approach
There are many great education approaches that deliver stated learning outcomes reliably and measurably, which can be valuable when we know what learners need to know and methods or techniques that are well established. RAI Education focuses instead on the complex challenges facing our time, which require responsive, adaptive, and collaborative problem-solving.
Our approach centres on tackling complex challenges characterised by high uncertainty, where cause and effect may be unclear or unknowable. To ensure AI's positive impact, we prioritise including diverse and multidisciplinary perspectives, and working together collaboratively with AI to address dynamic, emergent issues that necessitate ongoing learning, adaptability, and a growth mindset.

Values-Driven Education
For those committed to collaborative efforts for social and environmental transformation, with education grounded in values outlined by ESD
We’ve been hearing a lot about the need to align AI with human values. But who gets to decide which values AI should align to? What if we disagree or change our minds? We focus instead on values-driven education, which involves not only aligning AI with our values but also aligning our values with each other whilst working towards positive social and environmental transformation within the systems, structures, local and global communities we are a part of.
Constructive Alignment
Values-focused Education
Learning Outcomes
Clear, specific statements that describe what learners should know, understand, or be able to do by the end of a learning experience.
Makes it clear how learning will take place, why learning is important, to whom, and for what purpose.
Methods
Strategies and techniques used by educators to facilitate learning and help learners achieve the intended learning outcomes.
Focuses on the connection between the learners and the broader goal of transforming society and the environment for the better. Strategies encourage critical thinking, collaboration, reflection, dialogue and participation, and action.
Assessment
Assessment tasks are designed to evaluate learners' achievement of the learning outcomes.
Assessment tasks are designed to evaluate learners’ engagement, embodiment of values, collaborative approach, and connection to positive transformation.
Responsible AI Education considers how AI augments human capabilities
Learning and competency frameworks often focus on individuals, but we believe the real potential for positive change lies in people and AI collaborating effectively. By reflecting on and engaging with the communication and collaboration between people and AI, we aim to drive meaningful progress towards positive social and environmental transformation.
